the genius of love won’t get fooled again

i love the who and the tom tom club. by the way. don’t you?

some days the sun shines and you don’t notice it inside. outside the skin feels warm, but there is this layer of ugh, too much to do, too much to think about to notice the sunshine and love that surrounds you. but, then you get reminded to look around and love and notice the love that surrounds you. your little boy’s eyes look bluer your boyfriend’s i love you rings through the haze of laundry, work, not enough money for me or for the schools or health care or the environment….and and and….then you buy some new shampoo – lavender to wash the layers away, hot water to take away to damp cold of the sf bay winter…the music plays you open your mouth and sing along dance a little. remember to pick up your guitar and play…and realize that
the genius of love is really that is it always available. we just put layers of soot and ash on top of it, walk away from hugs and kind eyes when those are all we really want.

kids are really something. they parent us. grow us push us into foreign lands we are so not prepared for or scared of. last night my son was having a hard time and he said, ‘mama i need to sit here, over here, in this little ball and just have you right near, but i need to be by myself and i need a hug, but i just need you near until i am ready.’ when he was ready my hug was waiting.

thank you tom tom club for this…and senor coconut for the remix – check it….

& the who! thank you! …
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play…

happy new year!
